Job summary

Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Testing Technician to lead field testing, commissioning, and diagnostic services for high- and medium-voltage systems across the DMV region. You will serve as the on-site project lead, ensuring safety and quality in data centers, commercial facilities, and industrial substations.

You must hold a current NETA/NICET Level III certification, have at least five years of hands-on testing experience, and

Qualifications

  • Current, active NETA Level III (or higher) Technician certification is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical power testing and maintenance.
  • Proven capability in testing protective relays (electro-mechanical and solid-state), insulation resistance, power factor, and primary/secondary injection.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying environments; willing to rotate night/weekend on-call for emergencies.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record; background check and drug screening required for secure sites.

Responsibilities

  • Field Testing & Commissioning: Perform testing on switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, instruments per standards.
  • Project Leadership: Lead on-site testing projects across DMV region.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Analyze data and deliver actionable reports to clients.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA/NFPA 70E and conduct daily JHA analyses.
  • Client Relations: Communicate testing outcomes and timelines with clients and project managers.

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-minded NETA/NICET Level III Certified Technician to lead field testing, commissioning, and diagnostic services for low, medium, and high-voltage electrical power distribution systems. In this role, you will act as the on-site project lead, managing complex testing assignments in critical environments—including data centers, commercial infrastructure, and industrial substations- across the DMV region.


Key Responsibilities
  • Field Testing & Commissioning: Perform visual, mechanical, and electrical testing on switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers (molded case, insulated case, air, vacuum), protective relays, instrument transformers, and switchboards per NETA ATS/MTS standards.
  • Project Leadership: Act as the Lead Technician on-site project lead, managing complex testing assignments in critical environments—including data centers, commercial infrastructure, and industrial substations- across the DMV region.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Investigate electrical faults, analyze test data, and deliver clear, actionable technical reports or recommendations to clients.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety guidelines. Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Client Relations: Interface directly with project managers, facility engineers, and clients to explain testing outcomes and project timelines.

$60-70 / hour (Base salary commensurate with experience; plus overtime)
