Shield AI is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to define and lead the electrical test-equipment strategy enabling X-BAT hardware through development, qualification, and sustainment.

You will shape architectures, set safety standards, and mentor engineers while remaining hands-on with schematics, lab work, and software tools to improve testability and reliability.

This IC role offers broad impact across aircraft subsystems and cross-functional teams in a fast-moving defense-tech environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related STEM, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in complex electrical hardware or automated test equipment.
• Proven track record leading hardware development cycles from ambiguity to deployment.
• Deep expertise in power electronics, analog/digital design, RF, instrumentation.
• Architecture across electronics, harnessing, embedded control, automation software, and interfaces.
• Strong requirements decomposition, verification planning, design reviews, configuration management, and technical documentation.
• Experience establishing technical standards or reusable platforms beyond individual projects.
• Experience resolving cross-domain failures using data and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for electrical test equipment for X-BAT avionics.
• Identify verification risks and convert them into prioritized investments and ownership.
• Define common architectures for racks, stands, interfaces, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Lead complex test-equipment programs through requirements, design, build, and deployment.
• Set standards for schematics, PCB design, calibration, documentation, and release readiness.
• Mentor engineers and drive architecture reviews across the team.
• Collaborate with systems and design engineering to define testable requirements before aircraft designs are released.
