Shield AI is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to define and lead the electrical test-equipment strategy that enables X-BAT hardware through development, qualification, integration, and sustained operation. The role anchors theHardware Test Engineering team and emphasizes architecture, safety, and lifecycle readiness.

You will work hands-on near schematics, code, and lab operations while multiplying team effectiveness through reusable platforms and clear technical decisions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in electrical hardware development and automated test equipment.
• Experience leading hardware development cycles from ambiguous requirements to deployment.
• Ability to architect systems spanning custom electronics, commercial instruments, and automation software.
• Strong skills in requirements decomposition, interface control, and verification planning.
• Experience with safety and reliability methods (hazard analysis, FMEA, fault trees).
• Experience with DO-160, MIL-STD-810/461, IPC, IEEE, NFPA 70E or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead test-equipment strategy for X-BAT avionics and subsystems.
• Establish common architectures, engineering standards, and lifecycle expectations.
• Mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and enable cross-team collaboration.
• Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations across test equipment and units under test.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions and provide technical direction to vendors and teams.
