Job summary

Edison Smart® in Wisconsin seeks a Senior R&D Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical products across data center, renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging and power distribution markets.

Within the Product Engineering team, you will drive product innovation from concept through prototyping, testing and production, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, quality and manufacturability requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience; 8+ years in product design preferred.
• Experience designing low-voltage electrical circuits, electrical components and PLC-controlled systems.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA or Creo.
• Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, technical drawings, BOMs and industry standards.
• Experience with product testing, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and manufacturing support.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers and designers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical components, sub-systems and assemblies for power distribution and energy products.
• Lead product development, prototyping, testing and design qualification activities.
• Produce electrical schematics, 2D drawings, 3D models and engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement and suppliers to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards, safety requirements and customer specifications.
• Support production, technical troubleshooting, product improvements and aftermarket requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to design reviews.
