Job summary

Piscataway Township seeks an Electrical Subcode Official to review electrical plans and conduct inspections to ensure conformance with the Electrical Subcode, under the direction of the Construction Official.

Qualified candidates must hold a NJ Subcode Official license, plus applicable Industrial/Commercial and High Hazard Electrical Inspector licenses, and a NJ driver’s license. Salary ranges from $95,000 to $125,000 annually depending on licenses and experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures for the department.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans, and specifications.
• Knowledge of sub code requirements for class 1, 2, and 3 structures.
• Experience with construction inspection methods and materials.
• Familiarity with NJAC 5:23-3 and 3.4 and related standards.
• Ability to organize inspection work and analyze problems.
• Ability to interact with inspectors, contractors, and the public.
• Ability to understand complex laws and apply them to cases.
• Proficiency with electronic or manual recording systems.
• English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension ability.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical plans for conformance with codes.
• Perform inspections under the direction of the Construction Official.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with the Uniform Construction Code.
• Coordinate with other inspectors and contractors as needed.
