Job summary

National Fire Protection Association is seeking a Senior Engineer - Electrical to lead and advance NFPA’s electrical standards development efforts. You will manage complex codes, mentor staff, and serve as a senior technical expert for internal teams and external stakeholders.

You will contribute to NFPA’s mission by guiding electrical content in codes and training, collaborating across departments, and representing the association with external trade groups as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent in electrical/technical discipline.
• Professional certification such as Professional Engineer (PE) preferred or similar.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively increasing technical experience, project management, and content development in electrical field.
• Senior electrical technical knowledge to address complex problems and NFPA codes knowledge.
• Understanding of NFPA codes and standards and the standards development process.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication; public speaking capability.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality execution of NFPA’s standards development process.
• Provide day-to-day project management and mentorship to staff.
• Serve as a senior electrical technical expert internally and externally.
• Manage responsibilities of codes and standards including NFPA 70E, 70B, 73, 110, 111, 790, 791, 855, 780, 79.
• Represent NFPA and support electrical trade associations as assigned.
• Collaborate with internal staff on Electrical Sections annually when needed.
• Provide electrical expertise to NFPA members via technical Q&A.
