Job summary

DB E.C.O North America is seeking a Lead Subject Matter Expert (Electrical) - Rolling Stock Engineering to oversee railway vehicle engineering projects in the U.S. and Canada.

You will provide technical SME guidance on new procurement, overhauls, specifications, design reviews, first article inspections, QA, and zero-emission systems, working independently and with a multi-disciplinary team. You will lead projects from concept to completion, manage budgets and schedules, mentor junior staff,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering.
• P.E. license preferred but not essential.
• 20+ years of senior-level participation in rail vehicle engineering.
• Experience across propulsion/traction control, HEP, lighting, low voltage, batteries, EMI/EMC, software/diagnostics.
• Experience with low- and zero-emission tech such as batteries/hydrogen in rail applications is advantageous.
• Experience with High speed/Intercity, commuter, Light/Heavy Rail equipment.
• FRA/FTA regulatory familiarity in relation to rail vehicle design and operation.
• Technical project management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Direct/manage rolling stock engineering projects from concept to completion.
• Oversee technical aspects of rail and transportation projects.
• Lead or support teams, ensuring schedule adherence and budget compliance.
• Lead technical liaison with clients and stakeholders.
• Produce deliverables within QA/QC procedures and drive improvements.
• Mentor lower-level engineering staff and coordinate with partners to achieve objectives.
• Develop deliverables such as plans, specifications, analyses, reports, drawings, and manuals.
• Engage in client relations, marketing activities, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
