Job summary

Water Works Engineers in Scottsdale, AZ, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, analyze, and oversee electrical systems for water infrastructure projects. You will ensure compliance with project specs and standards, from planning through construction, while collaborating with PMs and engineers.

The role requires PE licensure, 3–15 years of experience, and strong skills in SCADA, AutoCAD/Revit, and power distribution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • 3–15 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably within the water infrastructure sector.
  • Ability to lead project teams as a senior candidate.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and their role in water infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, PLC, and SCADA.
  • Familiarity with building codes and IEEE standards.
  • Willingness to perform office and field work as required by the project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD design software (AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems analysis software for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash calculations (ETAP or SKM).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop electrical designs for water infrastructure projects, including power distribution, controls, and SCADA systems.
  • Conduct electrical calculations and design analyses for preliminary and detailed design phases.
  • Develop and review electrical cost estimates to ensure financial feasibility and adherence to budget.
  • Prepare and oversee comprehensive electrical reports, plans, and specifications, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Design electrical systems for medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, PLC, and SCADA for portions of major projects.
  • Review and approve electrical construction submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct field inspections to monitor progress and compliance of electrical installations.
  • Prepare and deliver electrical engineering presentations to stakeholders and clients.
  • Collaborate effectively within project teams, leading or contributing to successful outcomes through teamwork.
  • Ensure all electrical projects adhere to industry standards, codes, contracts, drawings, specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
