Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a senior electrical engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team in the Arlington, VA office. You will lead electrical systems design for building projects across education, healthcare, corporate, and science sectors, working under a senior engineer and possibly serving as project manager or engineering leader.

Requirements include US PE license, 8+ years of related experience, LEED preferred, and strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience required.
• Current PE in the United States required.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
• Ability to work independently with no oversight.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must engage effectively with clients.
• Fully qualified professional with high latitude and some ambiguity in work.
• Experience with engineering design programs (Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools) required.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for building construction.
• Lead project teamwork planning sessions.
• May serve as project manager or engineering leader and lead meetings.
• Adhere to financial and work goals.
• Design lighting, power distribution, signaling, and telecom systems for healthcare, education, and commercial clients.
• Prepare construction documents and guide junior staff.
• Perform quality control checks of engineering documents.
• Lead value engineering sessions with the A/E team.
• Review shop drawings and RFIs; review changes.
• Conduct site visits to verify conditions and observe progress.
• May perform other related tasks as needed.
