Job summary

C&I Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Engineer to join our Houston office. This full-time role focuses on delivering complete design packages, mentor junior staff, and coordinating multi-discipline project plans to meet client expectations in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits sectors.

The candidate will prepare analyses, specify instrumentation, contribute to P&IDs, and collaborate across departments to ensure successful execution of complex projects.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree with 10+ years of related work experience, or ABET-accredited engineering technology degree with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 10%.
  • Must comply with drug-free workplace requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC and pass background checks.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Professional Engineer License (desirable)
  • Leadership experience (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Prepares complete design packages, including construction scope of work, for complex projects that meet design intents and customer expectations.
  • Creates lists of engineering deliverables and tasks, and estimates effort hours for same, based on limited scopes of work for complex projects.
  • Serves as a mentor to junior staff and assists in training and development.
  • Creates a plan of execution for large and complex projects, anticipating sequence of tasks and procurement cycles.
  • Works within project team to integrate department plan into a multi-discipline project plan of execution.
  • Prepares computer analyses and calculations.
  • Uses vendor documents, coordination prints, and models to check dimensions and interfaces.
  • Specifies process instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, temperature).
  • Helps develop P&IDs and create typical electrical and instrumentation design documents.

About the opportunity: Senior Electrical Power Engineer

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Power Engineer in our office to help us achieve our company mission. C&I is a full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits.

Responsibilities include:
  • Prepares complete design packages, including construction scope of work, for complex projects that meet design intents and customer expectations. Designs are well coordinated with other departments.
  • Creates lists of engineering deliverables and tasks, and estimates effort hours for same, based on limited scopes of work for complex projects.
  • The Senior Electrical Power Engineer serves as a mentor to junior staff. Assists in training and development of others. Identifies training needs in the department chief.
  • Creates a plan of execution for large and complex projects, anticipating the sequence of tasks, long lead and special items for engineering procurement cycle, and dependencies of information from others.
  • Works within project team to integrate department plan into a multi-discipline project plan of execution.
  • As a Senior Electrical Power Engineer, this individual prepares computer analyses and calculations.
  • Uses vendor documents, coordination prints, surveys, and models to check dimensions, determine interface points, determine physical space requirements, and provide information to other departments. etc.
  • Specifies process instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, temperature, etc.)
  • Helps develop P&IDs and create typical electrical and instrumentation design documents.
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering program with a minimum of 10 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering technology program with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally to o?ces, vendor shops, and project sites. Travel may be up to 10%
  • Must comply with drug-free workplace requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and pass any required background checks.
  • Performs work in a safe manner in accordance with C&I and client requirements.
  • Valid Driver’s License
