Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior MEP Estimator I - Electrical to lead estimating efforts for large projects, gathering data, calculating quantities, and compiling accurate project estimates. Based in Minneapolis with a hybrid work arrangement, you will guide estimators, develop bid strategies, and support margin goals while collaborating with operations and design teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum nine years of construction industry experience.
• Ability to manage multiple large projects and lead estimator teams.
• Proficient with BIM and project documents to quantify work.
• Knowledge of building systems, contracts, and risk mitigation.
• Experience with Cortex cost modeling and self-performed work.
• Strong communication and leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

• Organize estimate prep and lead estimator teams on large projects.
• Facilitate meetings, assign work, ensure reliable estimates.
• Prepare trade partner strategy, bids, and budgets with BIM docs.
• Collaborate to align scope and budget; close changes in reviews.
• Conduct quantity surveys and assess site logistics.
• Present margin plans and manage Bid Day and estimates.
• Use Eos Cortex for cost modeling and value analysis.
• Price self-performed scopes and allocate costs accurately.
• Build relationships with operations, design partners, and owners.
• Mentor junior estimators and guide software selection.
