Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical Systems to transition new products into operations and resolve production‑level issues. You will lead electrical/electro‑mechanical manufacturing processes, influence design for manufacturability, and drive continuous improvement across methods and equipment.

The role partners with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Operations, providing technical leadership and hands‑on support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred; other engineering disciplines with relevant experience may be considered.
  • 6-8+ years of experience in electrical/electro‑mechanical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with NPI, design release, and full-rate manufacturing.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting electrical/electro‑mechanical products in manufacturing.
  • Experience with DFM, DFA, RCA, and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience with ECOs, manufacturing documentation, and process development.
  • Experience with PCBAs, wiring harnesses and test systems is preferred.
  • Experience with NPI programs and electro‑optical/infrared tech is a plus.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or similar manufacturing improvement methodology experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Solve complex design and manufacturing problems with engineering support as required.
  • Take ownership of assigned products and manufacturing processes and provide technical direction to Technicians and production personnel.
  • Work hands-on with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electro‑mechanical, test, and system‑level issues.
  • Analyze design challenges during NPI and develop manufacturing methods, tooling, and production processes for infrared and electro‑mechanical products.
  • Review and approve new product designs to ensure DFM and DFA principles are incorporated early.
  • Partner with Electrical Engineering teams to resolve design, integration, test, assembly, and manufacturability issues.
  • Support transition of products from Design Engineering to Production with production readiness objectives.
  • Provide daily production floor support for complex electrical/electro‑mechanical assemblies (PCBAs, wiring harnesses, test systems, sensors).
  • Lead root cause investigations, failure analysis, and corrective actions to improve quality, reliability, and yield.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve manufacturing, assembly, and documentation issues.
  • Participate in ECO review and approval for supported products.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and manufacturing processes; develop process improvements for manufacturability, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process flows, and production support records.
  • Evaluate manufacturing costs, process capabilities, labor estimates, and production time standards.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, CI, and yield improvement initiatives across operations.
