Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the Manufacturing Engineering team and drive strategic direction across manufacturing. This role oversees product sustainment, NPI, process development, and automation integration to support current production and future growth.

The candidate will interface with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure scalable, high-quality manufacturing.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
5+ years of leadership or management experience leading engineering teams.
Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Strong project management, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
Own manufacturing engineering activities supporting production, product sustainment, and operational excellence initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, throughput, efficiency, and cost reduction.
Lead manufacturing readiness activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
Develop, implement, and sustain manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
Identify, evaluate, and deploy automation solutions to improve production capacity, repeatability, and efficiency.
Partner with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability and support DFM initiatives.
Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities for manufacturing, quality, and process issues.
Establish and monitor manufacturing performance metrics while driving actions to achieve operational objectives.
Support capital equipment planning, justification, procurement, and implementation activities.
Ensure compliance with quality systems, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
