Job summary

ENGIE North America Inc. seeks a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Technician in Iowa City, IA.

You will maintain and troubleshoot complex electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across plant facilities, supporting safety, reliability, and efficiency. Responsibilities include coordinating capital projects, working with VFDs, PLCs, and HMIs, interpreting schematics, and maintaining documentation in a CMMS.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems in applicable environments.
• Experience applying local, state, and national electrical and safety codes.
• Ability to complete written reports in the MMS/CMMS and communicate technical details and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate capital project work from pre-planning to commissioning.
• Support actuators, analyzers, pumps, and VFDs for safe operations.
• Maintain low-voltage control systems and instrumentation.
• Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control logic to diagnose issues.
• Monitor automated operation and tune system performance.
• Upgrade legacy control systems by retrofitting PLCs and HMIs.
• Identify obsolete components and recommend new solutions.
• Expand PLC programming knowledge and analytical skills.
• Use CMMS to write and complete work orders with detailed notes.
