Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical institute with a major in electrical technology, mechanical technology, engineering or related field and five+ years of full-time electrical work including at least one year of lead electrical inspection experience.
• Substitution of experience for education allowed: additional qualifying electrical experience may substitute for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, up to two years.
• Two years of full-time electrical inspection experience as an Electrical Inspector-Lead with the State of Tennessee.
• Must be certified by NCPCCI, IAEI or ICC as One/Two Family Electrical Inspector and Electrical General Inspector, and licensed by the State of Tennessee.
• A valid motor vehicle license may be required for employment in some positions.

Responsibilities

• Responds to electrical inquiries, policy, procedure and Tennessee Code Annotated for electrical contractors, issuing agents, power supply companies, homeowners, builders and the business community.
• Schedules electrical inspections in the CORE licensing system to meet timelines established by law and regulation.
• Interprets rejection notices to customers.
• Performs local exempt jurisdiction audits regarding permitting and inspection of electrical installations.
• Supervises Electrical Inspectors at Lead level and participates in hiring/interviewing.
• Attends court proceedings as a code specialist when required.
• Coaches contractors on permitting and inspections and creates presentations for meetings.
• Consults with state authorities to determine jurisdiction and responds to product approval inquiries.
• Attends industry meetings and coordinates regional contractor meetings.
• Conducts inspections and site visits to confirm compliance with statutory code, including marina/floating cabins.
• Maintains CORE system workflows and schedules.
• Keeps certifications and continuing education current.
• Performs safety inspections with tenants, owners, distributors and other jurisdictions.
