Job summary

Alterman, Inc. seeks a Senior Estimator to develop and prepare cost estimates for electrical projects of varying sizes. The role leads the estimating team, mentors junior estimators, and coordinates with vendors and engineers to ensure accurate budgets and competitive bids.

Proficiency with PACK methods and estimating software is essential. The senior estimator will review RFPs, assemble bid qualifications, and optimize labor and material pricing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 8+ years electrical estimating experience.
• Two years managing or supervising a team.
• Strong understanding of local/regional bidding market.
• Understanding of electrical distribution and motor controls or distribution, branch, lighting systems.
• Journeyman license, masters license, or associate degree in electrical engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bid Preparation: quantify and estimate costs of all electrical items.
• Attend pre-bid meetings to gather information.
• Prepare bills of material for quotations.
• Design practical installation layouts.
• Lead material and method selections.
• Develop budgets from design criteria and historical data.
• Oversee estimating team and develop estimating tools and training.
• Mentor Level I & II estimators; participate in hiring decisions.
