Job summary

TESIM Electric seeks a senior estimator to lead preconstruction for large electrical projects in Texas data-center pipeline. You’ll own cost models, takeoffs, and bid strategy, presenting defensible numbers to GC and owner teams.

You’ll build relationships with GC preconstruction groups, attend bid walks, and drive value engineering and alternates. This role blends estimating excellence with client-facing leadership, travel across Texas required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating, preconstruction, or GC-facing precon.
• Track record pricing complex commercial electrical scopes: data centers, mission-critical, healthcare, industrial, or advanced manufacturing.
• Executive presence - comfortable in the room with senior GC and owner leadership.

Responsibilities

• Full-cycle estimating: conceptual through construction documents on commercial electrical scopes.
• Quantity takeoffs, labor unitization, material pricing, sub solicitation, bid assembly.
• Executive-level relationships with GC precon teams - the room where the bid list gets set.

• Value engineering, alternates, and proposals that make GCs want to hire us.
• Bid/no-bid discipline - chasing the right work, walking away from the wrong work.

The Opportunity

Texas is building data centers faster than anyone can price them. Hyperscale, enterprise, colocation - all electrical-heavy, all fast-track, all fighting for the same limited estimating talent.

The Role

You are the front door for new work at TESIM. Part senior estimator, part client-facing preconstruction lead - the person who can build a defensible number AND sit across the table from a GC's precon team and win the job.

What You'll Own

• Full-cycle estimating: conceptual through construction documents on commercial electrical scopes

The Scoreboard

You'll own the numbers:

• Qualified pipeline sourced each quarter


• Bids submitted - volume and mix


• Win rate on bids you lead


• Bid vs. actual margin once your work is built


• GC precon and owner-side relationships you activate

Move those numbers and this seat opens the door to VP of Preconstruction.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating, preconstruction, or GC-facing precon


• Track record pricing complex commercial electrical scopes: data centers, mission-critical, healthcare, industrial, or advanced manufacturing


• Executive presence - comfortable in the room with senior GC and owner leadership


• Fluent with electrical estimating and takeoff software (Accubid, LiveCount, Trimble, ConEst, or equivalent) plus Bluebeam


• Sound judgment on margin, risk, capacity, schedule, and whether an opportunity is right for TESIM


• Willingness to be on the road across Texas for bid walks and pursuit meetings

Preferred Experience

• Existing relationships at target Texas GCs (JE Dunn, DPR, Turner, Rosendin, Bartlett Cocke, Joeris, Zachry, SpawGlass, Hensel Phelps, Holder, McCarthy)


• Direct data-center or hyperscale mission-critical experience


• Medium voltage, switchgear, generators, UPS, PDU/busway, or gear-room electrical


• Bachelor's in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related


• Field or license background (Journeyman or Master)
