Job summary

E-J Electric Installation Co. is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead pre-construction cost estimation for diverse electrical projects.

You will develop detailed bids, analyze drawings and specifications, and coordinate with the bid team to craft competitive proposals. The role requires strong knowledge of electrical systems, market conditions, and cost drivers, with emphasis on accuracy and collaboration across engineering and project management teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in electrical estimating.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field/equivalent experience is preferred.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Suite and Excel.
• Proven experience as an electrical estimator in the construction industry with knowledge of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze project plans, specifications, drawings, and schedules to understand scope.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Use estimating software (McCormick, Bluebeam) to ensure precision and consistency.
• Account for market conditions, labor rates, and material costs.
• Collaborate with bid team to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
• Participate in bid meetings and presentations to explain pricing decisions.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
• Develop relationships with vendors and subcontractors for pricing and information.
• Prepare reports on cost tracking and estimating accuracy.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management to gather necessary information.
