Job summary

City Light & Power, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead price take-offs, bid packages, and cost analyses for complex electrical utility projects in the Denver area.

The hybrid work schedule combines onsite collaboration with flexible remote work. The role requires 10+ years in electrical estimating, strong Excel and Timberline skills, and the ability to coordinate with engineering and suppliers while traveling up to 25% when needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years electrical estimating experience, high voltage preferred.
  • Experience with take-offs and pricing in union, self-perform and lump sum environments.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Timberline experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Generate price take-off quantities, materials, and construction equipment.
  • Evaluate RFP requirements and prepare/submission of documents with estimating team.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements.
  • Prepare subcontractor bid packages from third party proposals and specs.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings with clients.
  • Create and maintain an electronic database of project components and unit costs.
  • Interface with internal engineering and third-party suppliers to specify scope.
  • Lead procurement of subcontractors and materials for the scope.
  • Review final bids for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Develop scope and plans for pricing of conceptual estimates.
  • Review contractor programs for contract compliance and budgets.
  • Perform constructability reviews and cost analyses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Senior Electrical Estimator (ELECTRICAL UTILITY)

Work Location: Denver, CO - Hybrid Work Schedule

What you’ll do:
  • Leverage prior experience to generate price take-off quantities, materials, and construction equipment.
  • Evaluate Request for Proposal requirements and work with estimating team to prepare and submit required documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements.
  • Prepare subcontractor bid packages to be estimated from third party suppliers by gathering proposals, designs, specifications and related documents.
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings with clients.
  • Create and maintain an electronic database of project components including unit costs of electrical equipment, labor hours for installation and engineering.
  • Interface with internal engineering staff and other third‑party suppliers to specify scope of supply.
  • Lead the solicitation, evaluation and procurement of subcontractors and materials for applicable scopes of work.
  • Review final bids for accuracy, ensure all items have been included.
  • Determine possible value engineering.
  • Develop scope and plans for pricing of conceptual or budgetary estimates.
  • Review contractor programs for compliance with contract documents.
  • Perform constructability reviews, analyze budgets and project costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
  • Ten (10+) years of electrical estimating experience, high voltage experience desired.
  • Must be familiar with take‑offs and pricing work in union, self‑perform and lump sum, competitive bid environments.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Ability to understand scope of work with the ability to effectively communicate to various stakeholders.
  • Able to utilize Microsoft Office applications effectively.
  • Timberline estimating experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on resolving technical issues, preparing reports and analyses and influencing suppliers to meet service and technical needs of project.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail skills are essential.
  • Ability to travel (overnight) up to 25%
Work Authorization / Security Clearance:
  • You must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel is required.
Benefits & Compensation:

  • Salary: $100,000 - $120,000/year based on experience plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
