Senior Electrical Tester
Location: Colorado-based is preferred, however the Electrical Tester position can be located at other CLP Engineering locations, or remote in a state where CLP Engineering is registered. The position requires up to 75% travel and U.S. citizenship.
Base pay: $45.00/hr - $75.00/hr based on skills and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create plans for testing apparatus.
- Understand theory behind and reason for testing with ability to analyze results.
- Instrument transformer tests such as CT’s/PT’s/CCVT’s/MU’s.
- Power transformer testing – Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
- Cable testing – VLF/TD/PD.
- Automatic transfer switch testing & troubleshooting.
- Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear, SF6 and vacuum circuit breaker testing.
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Ability to perform complex troubleshooting.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Knowledge and understanding of practical application of electrical theory and hazards to perform the job requirements safely.
- Interact positively with customers.

Skills and Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related field; or previous military experience preferred.
- Minimum of five (5+) years of relevant testing experience with:
- Presence of Voltage Verification
- Contact Resistance
- Insulation Resistance
- Test Equipment Set Up
- One‑line Drawings
- NETA or NICET Certification (III or IV) or similar desired.
- Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel. Experience with PowerDB a plus.
- Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Prefer OSHA 10 or 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70‑E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Available to work overtime hours and travel to the field for extended periods.
- Able to work well both independently and as a contributing team member.
Other Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
- A valid driver’s license with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy is required.
Travel
Up to 75% travel.
