Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking an Estimator to join the preconstruction team in Houston, focusing on electrical estimating for large-scale data center projects. You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and contribute to estimating templates and databases.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of estimating experience in electrical/MEP or data center environments and strong analytical skills. This role offers growth toward independent senior estimating responsibilities within a dynamic data center

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or an Associate’s degree in Construction Technology, Electrical Technology, Engineering, or related discipline combined with relevant experience.
• Approximately 3–5+ years of estimating, project controls, or construction experience, preferably in electrical, MEP, or mission critical environments.
• Prior experience supporting data center construction projects is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, construction documents, and specifications.
• Experience with electrical quantity takeoffs and cost development.
• Familiarity with labor productivity standards and estimating methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Bluebeam Revu for quantity takeoffs is highly valued.
• Familiarity with estimating platforms such as InEight, Accubid, Procore or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical quantity takeoffs from drawings, single-line diagrams, and specs for complex data center projects.
• Develop takeoffs across electrical systems including medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, cable tray, conduit, and related equipment.
• Research and apply labor productivity standards to develop accurate electrical installation labor estimates.
• Analyze project conditions and develop judgment around productivity and installation requirements.
• Assist senior estimators with developing and maintaining standardized estimating templates and tools.
• Research, organize, and analyze historical project cost data to support future estimates.
• Assist with complete project estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other costs.
• Review RFPs and bid documents to identify scope, exclusions, clarifications, and risks.
• Coordinate with scheduling, procurement, engineering, PM, and field teams during estimating.
• Participate in pursuits, bid reviews, and preconstruction meetings.
