Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
- Proactively identify and vet new business opportunities.
- Prepare detailed scope documents including RFPs, RFIs, proposals, and estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid, post-bid, and project take-off meetings.
- Ensure effective hand-off to field operations upon completion of the estimating process.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market factors such as pricing, materials, and labor.
- Utilize internal systems to maintain project documentation and historical data.
- Perform value engineering analysis.
- Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand scope and materials required.
- Estimate costs for labor, materials, and all electrical installation needs.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for competitive bidding.
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors for pricing.
- Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize costs while ensuring quality and compliance.
- Stay updated on electrical codes and regulations to ensure estimates align with legal standards.
- Maintain records of estimates, project documentation, and bids.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders for project details and cost-related questions.
- Monitor project costs during construction and adjust estimates as needed.
- Develop project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Identify potential risks affecting costs and propose mitigation strategies.
- Participate in war room projects with PMs at least 24 hours before deadlines.
- Conduct project walk-throughs at minimum every 2 months.
- High School Diploma or GED required; construction degree preferred but not mandatory.
Experience Desired:
- 8+ years of electrical estimating experience.
- Proven success estimating projects up to $5 million.
- Experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst, Vision, McCormicks).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Skills Required:
- Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office 365 applications.
- Commitment to continuous learning of industry trends and technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills for accurate calculations.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
- Deep understanding of electrical industry parts and materials.
- Ability to work safely and follow safety guidelines, including documenting unsafe conditions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
