Job summary

Fresh Consulting seeks a Senior Electrical Engineering Technician in Costa Mesa, CA to join a fast-paced engineering team. You will build and modify cable and wire harnesses, perform PCB rework, and execute tests with oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters.

You will document test data and ensure lab safety and calibration. Qualifications include 4+ years hands-on electronics testing, IPC/J-STD-001 related soldering, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs and datasheets.
• Proficient in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering per IPC standards.
• Experience building cable/wire harnesses to IPC-620 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and modify cable and wire harnesses, including crimping, soldering connectors, and routing wires.
• Perform PCB rework and assembly, including SMT and through-hole soldering, component replacement, conformal coating, and staking.
• Execute test plans using benchtop equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters.
• Troubleshoot electronic assemblies to the component level and perform repairs.
• Document test data, rework, assembly details, and failure modes.
• Help maintain lab cleanliness, safety, and equipment calibration.

Title: Senior Electrical Engineering Technician

Role:

• Build, assemble, and modify cable and wire harnesses, including crimping, soldering connectors, and routing wires
• Perform PCB rework and assembly, including SMT and through-hole soldering, component replacement, conformal coating, and staking
• Execute test plans using benchtop equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and multimeters
• Troubleshoot electronic assemblies to the component level and perform repairs
• Document test data, rework, assembly details, and failure modes

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of hands-on electronics testing, assembly, and rework experience in an R&D or production environment
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and datasheets
• Proficiency in fine-pitch SMT and through-hole soldering (IPC J-STD-001 or equivalent)
• Experience building cable and wire harnesses to IPC-620 or equivalent
• Skilled at diagnosing electronic failures using standard test equipment
• Understanding of product lifecycles, reliability, and compliance testing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree in electrical/electronics, computer, or mechanical technology, or a related field
• Active IPC-610, IPC-620, and J-STD-001 certifications
• Experience with ECAD viewers such as Altium, Eagle, or OrCAD
• Familiarity with environmental testing, such as thermal chambers, vibration tables, and burn-in

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Range is $42.31 to $56.25 USD per hour.
