Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a multi-site organization responsible for the design, development, and testing of medium-voltage switchgear, PDUs, relay/control systems, and substation equipment. The role oversees about 15 engineers across the U.S.

and Canada. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, with strong experience in UL/industry codes and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including leadership.
  • Deep technical expertise with MV switchgear and power distribution equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEC codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction and operational leadership for the electrical engineering function across multiple sites.
  • Define and execute long-term engineering strategies aligned with goals and industry advances.
  • Lead design, development, testing, and validation of electrical systems (switchgear, substation control, protection & control).
  • Grow and mentor a distributed team of engineers and testers, including a design manager and staff.
  • Travel regularly to Dallas and Ontario sites to train and support teams.
