Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design and development of underground power distribution and controls equipment for mining and heavy industry. You will drive innovation in high-reliability systems and mentor junior engineers, with cross-functional collaboration across engineering teams.

The role offers flexible hours (40–45 per week) and occasional travel for on-site support or customer consultations, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years electrical design experience in industrial/mining environments.
• Experience with medium- and high-voltage distribution, protection coordination.
• Proficiency with MSHA/NEC/IEEE/UL508A standards.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of underground electrical and controls equipment.
• Analyze load flow, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination.
• Prepare cost estimates, quotations, and testing requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Provide field support and travel as needed.
