Senior Electrical Engineer - Substation (Denver)

Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various sectors including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The role involves leading the project team through the design and construction phases, adapting electrical plans based on budget, design factors, or client needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead electrical design from conceptual phase through completion, aligning with project needs and requirements set by project managers.
  2. Prepare specifications and data sheets for electrical equipment, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
  3. Review vendor drawings; interface data with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
  4. Participate in developing project schedules, scope, budgets, staffing, and construction planning. Manage change orders effectively.
  5. Apply expert knowledge of electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the industry.
  6. Utilize experience to find non-standard design solutions for complex projects.
  7. Review production drawings and project data for accuracy, using CAD software.
  8. Oversee construction administration, coordinate with field personnel, and resolve installation issues.
  9. Lead field inspections, measurements, and calculations for clients.
  10. Prepare and present technical reports for clients and publications.
  11. Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and develop new business opportunities.
  12. Participate in sales, marketing, and proposal development efforts.
  13. Lead project budgeting, cost estimation, and performance reporting.
  14. Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering staff.
  15. Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and safety policies.
  16. Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program with 7+ years of experience; EPC experience preferred.
  • Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience or successful FE exam completion also acceptable.
  • Expert knowledge of electrical design standards (ANSI, IEEE), strong computer skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience leading large projects and delegating tasks.
  • Critical thinking, detail orientation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel; PE license preferred.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $160,000 - $225,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include comprehensive insurance, disability, paid time off, wellness programs, ESOP, and 401(k). The position involves 25% travel and is full-time.
