Job summary

Rocket Lab in California is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own hardware for robotics and motor control, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with FPGA and micro‑controller systems. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of electrical hardware design for level I, or 8+ years for level II.
  • Ability to develop blank sheet of paper design concepts.
  • Experience in PCBA design with FPGAs.
  • Experience in motor control applications.
  • Experience with analog signal chains.
  • Proficiency performing circuit analyses using SPICE.
  • Board bring‑up and debug expertise.

Responsibilities

  • End to end ownership of hardware for robotics and motor control projects.
  • Drive architecture decisions to advance control algorithms.
  • Collaborate with FPGA and micro‑controller systems.
  • Develop PCBA requirements with other engineering teams.
  • PCBA design verification testing and system integration testing.
  • Oversee environmental tests including EMI/EMC, TVAC, Shock, and Vibe.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Mentor support engineers in layout, analysis, and testing.
  • Provide production manufacturing support as needed.
  • Support failure analysis and root‑cause investigations for test or on‑orbit units.
