Job summary

Rocket Lab Robotics in Pasadena, CA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer I/II to lead avionics hardware development for robotics programs. You will own hardware from requirements through production, collaborating with engineers across disciplines to advance control algorithms and system reliability.

The role emphasizes FPGA/microcontroller systems, PCBA design, and environmental testing in a fast-paced space robotics environment. Salary commensurate with experience and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or related field.
• 5+ years electrical hardware design for level I, 8+ years for level II
• Experience in PCBA design with FPGAs
• Experience in motor control applications
• Experience with analog signal chains
• Proficient in circuit analysis using SPICE
• Proficient in board bring-up and debugging
• FPGA firmware experience and Verilog is a plus

Responsibilities

• End to end hardware ownership for robotics and motor control applications
• Drive architecture decisions for control algorithms
• Work with FPGA and micro-controller systems
• Develop PCBA requirements with other engineering disciplines
• PCBA design verification testing and system integration testing
• Own environmental tests including EMI/EMC, TVAC, Shock, Vibe, etc.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer
• Mentor support engineers (layout, analysis, test)
• Production manufacturing support as needed
• Support failure analysis and root-cause investigation for units in test or in operation
