Job summary

Skild AI in San Mateo, CA seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to own electrical system integration across robotics platforms. You will design hardware, bridge software/firmware, and lead grounding, shielding, and EMC from concept to production.

Role requires hands-on expertise in power electronics, motor drives, RF, and sensor integration, with a focus on system-level tradeoffs and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Hands-on experience taking electrical hardware from concept through validation and production.
• Hands-on EMC/EMI design, debugging and test on complex hardware.
• Strong grounding, shielding, filtering, signal integrity and power integrity knowledge.
• Proficiency in power electronics design, motor drives and high-current DC systems.
• Strong sensor integration experience with IMUs, encoders and cameras.
• Experience with RF systems and antenna integration.
• PCB design with a system-level EMC mindset.
• Familiar with CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C and RS-485 protocols.
• Comfort debugging in lab and building quick test fixtures.
• Ability to communicate tradeoffs and make decisions with changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and validate power and sensor electronics systems.
• Design and validate motor driver circuits and power electronics systems.
• Integrate and fuse sensor data at the PCB level.
• Define grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, and cabling strategies.
• Identify EMC risks early and drive mitigations.
• Debug EMC and hardware issues with scopes and analyzers.
• Make system-level tradeoffs across performance, risk, cost, schedule, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with EE, ME, firmware, controls, and manufacturing teams.
• Document design processes and contribute to hardware best practices.
