Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager

Location & Team

This role is within the MEP Sector, focusing on Aviation, Transit, Commercial, or Mission Critical Buildings, based in Houston or Dallas, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the discipline design team to produce construction documents aligned with project requirements, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (MEP/FP, architecture, structural) for power, lighting, fire alarm, and grounding systems.
• Apply risk management practices to project engineering.
• Front-end load projects and establish proper project directions during Schematic and Design Development phases.
• Plan manpower needs and assist in resource allocation.
• Support the Project Manager on electrical and fire alarm scopes.

Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

• Execute complex electrical designs considering conflicting requirements and coordination challenges.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, IBC, IECC/ASHRAE, and other relevant codes.
• Design emergency and normal power systems, lighting, grounding, and related systems.
• Interface with utility providers and coordinate incoming services.
• Evaluate value engineering options for cost efficiency and risk.
• Edit electrical specifications based on CSI Masterformat.
• Perform fault current, coordination, arc flash, and load calculations.
• Create one-line diagrams, layout plans, and respond to RFIs and submittals.
• Travel to sites to resolve installation issues.

Continuous Improvement & Mentorship

• Conduct QA/QC reviews on project deliverables.
• Develop best practices, lessons learned, and standards.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to team members.

Candidate Profile

• 10+ years’ experience in electrical MEP design, preferably in Aviation, Transit, Federal, Science & Technology, or Mission Critical facilities.
• Deep knowledge of NEC and building codes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT MEP (REVIT experience required).
• BSc in Architectural or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered P.E. is required.
• Experience with SKM Power Tools or similar software is preferred.
