Job summary

The City of El Paso Texas is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to manage and lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical engineering projects for industrial facility systems.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, four years of professional engineering experience including two years as a Registered Professional Engineer, and two years of supervisory experience, plus Texas PE registration by appointment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Four (4) years of professional engineering experience in industrial facility systems, including two (2) years as a Registered Professional Engineer.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas by the time of application, or equivalent transferable from another state having reciprocity, which must be converted to Texas registration within one (1) year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical engineering projects, plans, and specifications.
• Evaluate systems that produce electricity with renewable energy sources (wind, solar, biofuels) and evaluate design standards for water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Review design plans and specifications for compliance with codes and prepare cost estimates.
• Perform project management activities including scope development, technical reviews, scheduling, and reporting.
• Monitor project progress, funding, and contractor performance; participate in construction inspections and commissioning; approve submittals and change orders.
• Supervise assigned staff, provide training and development, enforce rules, and participate in hiring decisions.
