Job summary

Heads Up Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in Production Engineering to lead root cause analysis, troubleshoot electromechanical assemblies, and drive reliability and cost improvements across production processes.

You will collaborate with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to optimize manufacturability, select components, and manage obsolescence while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience focused on PCB assemblies and OEM manufacturing.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical/electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Ability to read schematics, PCB layouts, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with failure analysis and reliability engineering principles.
  • Experience with component selection, qualification, and obsolescence management.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including PCB assembly and testing.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet requirements.
  • Familiarity with UL, CE, and RoHS standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production and field failures.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems, PCBs, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Support production to minimize downtime and meet delivery commitments.
  • Partner with quality and manufacturing teams to drive containment and corrective actions.
  • Analyze failure trends and implement design/process improvements for reliability.
  • Support failure analysis activities, including test development, data collection, and reporting.
  • Work with design engineers to implement changes that improve manufacturability and robustness.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through design and process changes.
  • Monitor component lifecycle risks and lead redesigns or requalification when needed.
  • Collaborate with product management and procurement to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians; update documentation.

Senior Electrical Engineer-Production Engineering

Heads Up Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing operations by resolving electromechanical product issues, improving product cost and manufacturability, and managing component lifecycle risks. This highly collaborative role focuses on sustaining engineering, root cause investigation, reliability, and continuous improvement across production processes and products.

What you\'ll do
  • Manufacturing Support and Issue Resolution: Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for electromechanical product failures observed in production and the field.
  • Manufacturing Support and Issue Resolution: Provide hands on troubleshooting of electrical systems, printed circuit board assemblies, and integrated electromechanical assemblies.
  • Manufacturing Support and Issue Resolution: Support production teams in resolving technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain delivery commitments.
  • Manufacturing Support and Issue Resolution: Partner with quality and manufacturing teams to drive containment and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Quality and Reliability Improvement: Analyze failure trends and implement design or process improvements that enhance product reliability.
  • Quality and Reliability Improvement: Support failure analysis activities, including test development, data collection, and reporting.
  • Quality and Reliability Improvement: Work closely with design engineering to implement design changes that improve manufacturability and robustness.
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities through component changes, design optimization, and process improvements.
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: Evaluate alternative components and suppliers while ensuring compliance with performance and quality requirements.
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives: Support value engineering and cost reduction projects across existing product lines.
  • Component Obsolescence Management: Monitor and manage electronic component lifecycle risks, including obsolescence and supply constraints.
  • Component Obsolescence Management: Lead redesign or requalification efforts to replace obsolete components with minimal impact on product performance and certification.
  • Component Obsolescence Management: Collaborate with product management and procurement to help ensure continuity of supply.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and contract manufacturers to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Support documentation updates, including schematics, bills of material, work instructions, and test procedures.

Work Days and Hours: Full time, with scheduling based on business needs.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Five to ten years of electrical engineering experience focused on printed circuit board assemblies and original equipment manufacturer product manufacturing and testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for electrical and electromechanical systems.
  • Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, printed circuit board layouts, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with failure analysis techniques and reliability engineering principles.
  • Experience with component selection, qualification, and obsolescence management.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, including printed circuit board assembly and testing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to meet product requirements.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards and regulations, including UL, CE, and RoHS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high reliability product designs in industries such as automotive, aerospace, or medical devices.
  • Familiarity with FPGA and/or embedded systems.
  • Six Sigma certification or training in a comparable process improvement methodology.
