Job summary

Novanta is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, simulate, and test mixed-signal electronics for precision motion control sensors and encoders. You will collaborate with optical, firmware, mechanical, and cross-functional teams to refine requirements and ensure product performance.

Responsibilities include PCB development, detailed troubleshooting, subsystem validation, and data-driven testing, with rigorous documentation and support for system integration and supplier quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering (mixed-signal).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in analog and digital electronics design, testing, and debugging.
• Experience with Altium, LTspice, and lab measurement equipment.
• Familiarity with EtherCAT, BiSS-C, SPI and SSI communication protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and validate electronics for mixed-signal systems and motion-control sensors.
• Develop optical encoder electronics and sensing systems.
• Create photodiode interfaces and analog front-end circuits.
• Analyze encoder signal quality and noise performance.
• Collaborate with optical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams.
• Document designs and test results for robust records.
