Job summary

TAKRAF Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in control and power systems to support the design, sizing, and documentation of electrical equipment for mining and bulk material handling projects.

The role involves coordinating with design and drafting groups, preparing electrical drawings and data sheets, and participating in FAT and QA/QC activities. Occasional field travel for startup is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty in Control or Power Systems (or both).
• 8-10 years of related progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in electrical engineering.
• Electrical discipline experience in work sequence and the methods used to generate specifications for requisition, bid analysis and purchase of electrical equipment.
• Working experience with NEC or IEC codes and standards.
• Experience with electrical power system equipment sizing and project drawings/documents (480VAC to 13,800VAC).
• Preferred: Master’s degree and bilingual abilities (Spanish, German) are assets.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates technical expertise in disciplinary field.
• Meets task or project time and budget goals.
• Perform electrical engineering calculations (short circuit, load flow, cable sizing) and prepare data sheets and one-line diagrams.
• Prepare, review and approve drawings; provide status updates to Project Engineer; assist with manpower and cost planning.
• Plan and schedule engineering efforts; maintain technical reports and engineering records; participate in FAT and QA/QC for electrical equipment.
• Travel to site to assist in start-up and commissioning.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with specialty in Control or Power Systems

Master’s degree preferred

8-10 years of related progressive experience

Electrical engineering experience in project scope

Experience with NEC or IEC
