Job summary

Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a senior Power Systems Engineer to join our Houston team. You will lead planning, analysis, and design of electrical infrastructure projects for industrial clients.

This role focuses on reliability, safety, and compliance with IEEE, NEC, NFPA standards, and utility interconnection requirements. You will perform advanced studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash) and develop SLDs, protection schemes, grounding, and equipment specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, and design power generation and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Perform power system studies: load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash.
• Develop single-line diagrams, protection schemes, grounding designs, and equipment specifications.
• Evaluate generators, transformers, switchgear, protective relays, inverters, and other power system equipment.
• Coordinate with utilities, ISOs, and regulatory agencies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and prepare technical reports.
