Job summary

City Building Engineering Services (CBES) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design, review, and coordination of electrical systems for new construction, remodels, and upgrades in commercial and retail facilities.

You will drive power distribution, lighting, controls, EMS integrations, and associate systems while coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and vendors to ensure code-compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• PE license required and bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in MEP environments.
• Experience with electrical distribution, lighting, grounding, and life safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Review, design, and coordinate electrical systems for new construction, remodels, and capital improvement projects.
• Develop and review electrical plans, load calculations, circuiting, equipment layouts, and specifications.
• Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to support electrical design and drawing reviews.
• Coordinate electrical requirements with Architecture, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Controls, EMS, and Construction teams.
• Perform engineering reviews, redlines, and code compliance evaluations for design packages.
• Support bid package preparation, vendor selection, and equipment procurement activities.
• Evaluate system changes and provide technical recommendations to improve performance, reliability, safety, and cost effectiveness.
• Investigate and resolve equipment, installation, and field construction issues.
• Research and assess emerging technologies, equipment, vendors, and engineering best practices.
• Ensure all designs meet client requirements, applicable codes, industry standards, and utility requirements.
• Provide senior-level technical review and redlining of electrical plans, calculations, and specifications prepared by internal teams or external engineering consultants.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
