Job summary

City Building Engineering Services (CBES) is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design, review, and coordination of electrical systems for commercial and retail facilities. You will drive power distribution, lighting, EMS integrations, and controls, while mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities include developing plans and load calculations, performing code compliance reviews, and coordinating with Architecture, Mechanical, and Construction teams. Travel up to 15% to field sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years in MEP consulting, design-build, retail industrial, or similar environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Extensive experience with electrical distribution, lighting, grounding, and life safety systems in commercial, retail, industrial, or supermarket facilities.
• Strong abilities in high-level technical reviews, code compliance evaluations, and system coordination.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including client-facing interaction.

Responsibilities

• Review, design, and coordinate electrical systems for new construction, remodels, and capital improvement projects.
• Develop and review electrical plans, load calculations, circuiting, equipment layouts, and specifications.
• Utilize AutoCAD and/or Revit to support electrical design and drawing reviews.
• Coordinate electrical requirements with Architecture, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Controls, EMS, and Construction teams.
• Perform engineering reviews, redlines, and code compliance evaluations for design packages.
• Support bid package preparation, vendor selection, and equipment procurement activities.
• Evaluate system changes and provide technical recommendations to improve performance, reliability, safety, and cost effectiveness.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
