Job summary

Ultra Maritime in Victor, NY is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design team and contribute to advanced electronics for sonobuoy receivers. You will guide design input, provide program estimates, and support verification and validation activities.

The role requires 10+ years of experience in complex digital/analog circuitry, strong communication skills, and the ability to obtain U.S. security clearance. Some travel and hands-on lab work may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 10 years of industry experience designing complex digital and analog circuitry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of electronic circuit design, including high speed/controlled impedance and large scale FPGA designs.
• Experience with electrical CAD software (Altium, OrCAD, Pads) and circuit analysis tools (SPICE).
• Experience using test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizens).

Responsibilities

• Oversee design deliverables such as design documentation and reviews.
• Create and support project documentation (DFMEAs, reliability estimates).
• Collaborate with Systems and Project Engineering to define electronics requirements.
• Create project estimates and documentation to support proposals.
• Develop, review and approve technical documents and procedures.
• Conduct hands-on lab work to support projects as needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their growth.
• Hands-on design and development of digital/analog circuits.
• Travel less than 10%.
