Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to assess existing facilities and infrastructure supporting Government operations in Hawaii. You will develop designs, calculations, specs, and construction docs for new and renovated facilities, covering medium- and low-voltage systems, generators, UPS, lighting, grounding, and renewables.

You will lead facility inspections, prepare technical reports, review contractor submissions, and coordinate with government personnel and contractors

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in electrical engineering, facilities or infrastructure modernization for gov/DoD programs
  • Experience designing, analyzing or maintaining electrical systems and facility infra
  • Experience in facility construction, sustainment, modernization or renovation
  • Experience preparing drawings, calculations, specs, and reports
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders while meeting schedules and budgets
  • Ability to present engineering recommendations to government/leadership
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • PE license in Electrical Engineering (highly desirable)
  • EIT certification (desirable)
  • Experience with overseas military installations or contingency engineering
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, ArcGIS, Bluebeam
  • Knowledge of UFC/NEC/NFPA/IEEE and energy regs
  • PM/CEM/LEED AP certifications (preferred)
  • Experience with resilient power, microgrids, and mission-critical systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering assessments of existing facilities, utilities, and infrastructure supporting Government operations
  • Develop electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents for new construction, renovation, modernization, and sustainment projects
  • Design and evaluate medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, standby generators, UPS, lighting, grounding, and renewable energy
  • Conduct facility inspections, condition assessments, power quality analyses, and electrical system evaluations
  • Prepare engineering reports, design packages, cost estimates, and technical recommendations
  • Review contractor design submissions, shop drawings, and construction documents for technical compliance
  • Support construction management activities including design reviews, field inspections, commissioning, and acceptance testing
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Government personnel, contractors, utilities, subcontractors, and host nation reps
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with UFC, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA and host nation regulations
  • Identify infrastructural deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
  • Support contingency engineering, emergency power restoration, and rapid infrastructure assessments
  • Coordinate electrical engineering with multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain engineering documentation, as-builts, system configurations, and project records
  • Provide recommendations on lifecycle maintenance, modernization, energy efficiency, and resiliency
  • Promote engineering best practices, safety, innovation, and continuous process improvement
