Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead design and client coordination for mission-critical data center projects in Kansas City. The role focuses on high, medium, and low voltage distribution, protection coordination, and building systems integration.

Qualified candidates have an ABET-accredited degree, FE exam completion (PE preferred), and 7 years of electrical engineering experience; an MS is a plus. Travel is required up to 10%.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in electrical engineering or related field.
• Or ABET-accredited B.S. in electrical engineering technology with FE exam.
• M.S. in electrical engineering is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Designs electrical systems/equipment for mission-critical markets with reliability and uptime.
• Advise clients on electrical system requirements and codes.
• Monitor installation to ensure design compliance with documents.
• Conduct fault studies and load-flow analyses; develop design criteria for protective device coordination and transformers.
• Lead development of electrical master plans (power distribution, MCCs, lighting, telecom routing, controls, UPS, generators).
• Review equipment designs and specifications; provide design direction on multi-discipline projects.
• Develop concept studies and narratives; identify and manage resources.
