Job summary

Capstan Medical in Santa Cruz, CA is developing a first-of-its-kind robotic platform for minimally invasive heart valve treatment. We seek an experienced electrical engineer to own electrical systems from concept to production, including schematic capture, PCB layout, validation, and manufacturing transfer.

Collaborate across mechanical, controls, software, and systems engineers; perform on-site build, bring-up, and debugging of prototype robotic systems for pre-clinical use.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in medical device electrical engineering.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and deliver tangible outcomes.
• Experience with design transfer, manufacturing, and shipping of medical equipment.
• Familiarity with design control and regulatory processes for medical devices.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical hardware design: schematic capture and PCB layouts.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, software, and systems engineers.
• On-site build, bring-up, and debug of robotic systems.
• Support manufacturing test and field troubleshooting.
• Lead design verification, risk management, and regulatory inputs.
• Mentor junior engineers and document design reviews.
• Identify gaps and align work with company goals.
