Job summary

Capstan Medical Inc. in Santa Cruz is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to own our electrical systems from concept to product, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and wiring harnesses for a novel robotic platform.

You will collaborate across mechanical, controls, software, and systems engineering, perform design verification, support manufacturing transfer, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring regulatory compliance (IEC 60601-1/2) and robust design for scale.

Qualifications

• Experience with PCBA design, testing and debugging in tight heat/power budgets.
• Experience with component selection and designing for high reliability.
• Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical hardware design from concept to manufacturing transfer.
• Lead schematic capture, PCB layout, harness design and integration with external partners.
• Perform design verification and risk management for medical device regulatory requirements.
• Support on-site build, bring-up, and debugging of prototype robotic systems.
