Job summary

ZAPATA Group, Inc in Charlotte, North Carolina seeks a qualified professional engineer to independently design and QC electrical and communications projects for military/commercial/industrial facilities and infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative, architecture-integrated solutions and oversee design requirements from start to finish.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering and BE/PE licensure.
• Current PE license and ability to be licensed by comity in other states.
• RCDD preferred.
• Minimum 20 years of electrical and communication design experience.
• LEED AP certification preferred.
• Extensive working knowledge of design and building codes.
• Experience administering and managing construction contracts.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, CAD and discipline‑specific software.
• Strong client rapport and advanced written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for electrical and communications projects.
• Evaluate/apply engineering techniques and criteria with judgment.
• Plan, design and oversee projects for new construction and renovations.
• Conduct site visits to document conditions.
• Lead preparation of written reports.
• Perform QC of designs for electrical and communications projects.
• Provide technical consulting for facilities planning, design, construction and maintenance.
• Delegate tasks, plan scopes, schedules and budgets.
• Act as responsible charge of projects (DOR).
• Review consultant drawings and prepare technical specifications.
• Prepare construction cost estimates and evaluate bids.
• Mentor junior staff.
