Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, integrate, and develop controls for large industrial machinery and unmanned systems.

You will own electrical scope from concept through commissioning on programs supporting federal defense customers, with on-site work in Arlington, VA and occasional travel to a government site in Maryland. The role blends electrical engineering, controls integration, and electronics design, including PCB work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience with industrial equipment integration and controls.
• Hands-on experience with wiring diagrams, schematics, and control panel design.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and equipment automation.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for large industrial machinery and process equipment.
• Develop and integrate controls, PLC/HMI programming, interlocks, and safety circuits.
• Produce wiring diagrams, schematics, and design packages for integration projects.
• Support PCB design and layout for smaller subsystems.
• Design wire harnesses for unmanned systems and drone hardware.
• Coordinate with mechanical and process teams to ensure integration.
• Support FAT, commissioning, and vendor coordination activities.
• Prepare technical documentation and design deliverables per requirements.
• Contribute to proposals with technical input and design approaches.
