Job summary

CNPC USA seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and develop high-temperature electronics for downhole sensing systems used in MWD/LWD. The role focuses on architecture, analog/mixed-signal design, and reliability in extreme environments.

You will lead prototyping, qualification, and collaboration with firmware, sensors, packaging, and field teams to ensure system-level performance and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible electronics engineering experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in high-temperature downhole electronics environments.
• Experience designing for operation at 175°C or above.
• Strong analog and mixed-signal design with power, data acquisition and sensor interfaces.
• Experience with high-temperature components, derating and qualification.
• Experience with reliability testing, failure analysis and root-cause investigation.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and SPICE-based simulation.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop electronics architectures for MWD/LWD and high-temperature sensors.
• Lead design, prototyping, testing, and qualification of electronics.
• Design for operation at 175°C in harsh downhole environments.
• Collaborate across electronics, firmware, sensors, mechanical packaging, and field ops.
• Develop reliability programs including thermal cycling and shock testing.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with external design houses and foundries.
