Job summary

CNPC USA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – High-Temperature Downhole Systems to design, develop, and qualify electronics for MWD/LWD downhole sensing systems operating in extreme HT/HP environments. The role collaborates with firmware, sensors, mechanical packaging, and field teams to ensure reliability and performance across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible electronics engineering experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing electronics for MWD/LWD or downhole applications.
• Demonstrated experience designing electronics for operation at 175°C or above.
• Strong analog and mixed-signal design experience.
• Experience with high-temperature component selection, characterization, derating, and qualification.
• Experience with electronics reliability testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools such as SPICE.
• Ability to work across electronics, firmware, sensors, mechanical packaging, and other engineering disciplines.
• Experience across product development lifecycle stages including field testing and commercialization.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop electronics architectures for MWD/LWD and high-temperature downhole sensing systems.
• Lead the design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and characterization of high-temperature electronics.
• Design and qualify electronics for reliable operation at 175°C and above in harsh downhole environments.
• Collaborate across firmware, sensor, mechanical packaging, testing, and field teams to ensure system-level performance.
• Develop and maintain high-temperature electronics design standards, documentation, and best practices.
• Coordinate with external design houses, foundries, and suppliers as required.
