Job summary

Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Electronic Safe & Arm Fire (ESAF) line. You will lead development and qualification of electronic safe and arm devices, working with customers and safety boards to ensure compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in electronic fuze/ignition safety or flight termination, plus strong CAD, modeling, and testing skills. Remote/in-person eligible; competitive salary and benefits including 9/80 schedule.

Qualifications

• Lawful US Person (ITAR restrictions).
• Eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act for all employees.
• Energetics/defense domain experience preferred.
• Strong electrical theory, circuit design, and system integration.
• Schematic capture and board layout experience (Altium, PADS).
• LTSpice and MATLAB/Simulink modeling/simulation experience.
• Module design including component selection, circuit analysis and layout.
• Test environments: plan, procedures, data evaluation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects; strong communication abilities.
• Knowledge of safety-focused procedures and HSE fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Develop electronic safe and arm devices through qualification to MIL-1316, MIL-1901, RCC-319.
• Provide design leadership and act as technical contact with customers and US safety boards.
• Design, build, test, and evaluate electronic prototypes.
• Lead reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, PRR, safety board reviews).
• Develop documentation: assembly/test procedures, SOWs, BOMs.
