Job summary

SimpliSafe is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer in Boston to drive full lifecycle design of security-focused products. You will own subsystems, guide prototyping and testing, and lead design reviews with global manufacturing partners.

You’ll collaborate with mechanical, firmware, sourcing, and product teams, shaping the roadmap with data-driven customer insights. This role emphasizes battery power optimization, RF tech, and hands-on systems engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 2 years on consumer products.
• Experience optimizing designs for battery operation with very low power usage.
• Proven experience contributing to the design and development of complex systems from concept to mass production, with ownership of subsystems or components.
• Experience working with product management to understand the data-driven 'why' and to be the voice of the customer.
• Strong communication, EQ, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated experience owning design validation plans, including defining test coverage across electrical, RF, connectivity, audio, and imaging subsystems.
• Ability to contribute at both the systems engineering level and as a hands-on technical contributor.
• Experience with RF technologies including Sub-GHz, WiFi, and BLE.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the full lifecycle design of security focused products, owning subsystems end-to-end.
• Identify and analyze cross-functional tradeoffs between design options including performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, industrial design, sourcing, and product management.
• Execute the product development process from concept to production to meet requirements, cost, and schedule targets.
• Lead prototype development and testing, designing test strategies to validate performance and resolve issues.
• Lead design reviews and discussions with suppliers and manufacturing partners to optimize designs for mass production.
• Contribute to the Technical Requirements Document with cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to product architecture and system-level design with ownership of assigned subsystems.
• Translate high-level requirements into detailed tasks and deliverables.
