Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design complex electrical systems for commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, and transportation projects across Florida. You will deliver construction drawings, perform load analyses, and coordinate with architects and other engineers to meet program goals.

The role emphasizes collaboration, adherence to NFPA/IEEE/ASHRAE standards, and client-facing responsibilities, with a hybrid work policy supporting in-office and remote work across

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license in Florida.
  • Demonstrated design experience with electrical systems for vertical building projects in Florida.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70/70E/72, NFPA 101/110 and IEEE/ASHRAE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform lighting design and controls calculations.
  • Prepare electrical load analyses across design stages.
  • Develop construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Prepare basis of design reports.
  • Complete energy compliance calculations and documentation.
  • Select electrical equipment and fixtures per project requirements.
  • Coordinate designs with architects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage with clients, owners, and contractors to define design needs.
  • Support proposals, BD, and project delivery as needed.
  • Contribute to project execution from concept through construction.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll help design and deliver complex electrical systems for commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, and transportation projects throughout Florida.

What You'll Do
  • Design electrical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects
  • Perform lighting design and associated controls calculations
  • Prepare electrical load analyses throughout various stages of design
  • Develop construction drawings and technical documentation
  • Prepare basis of design reports
  • Complete energy compliance calculations and supporting documentation
  • Select electrical equipment and fixtures based on project requirements
  • Coordinate designs with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Engage directly with clients, owners, and contractors to establish design requirements
  • Support proposal, business development, and project delivery efforts as needed
  • Contribute to the successful execution of projects from concept through construction

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida
  • Demonstrated professional design experience with electrical systems for vertical building projects in Florida
  • Solid knowledge and application of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NFPA 110, applicable building codes, energy codes, IEEE standards, ASHRAE standards, and related industry requirements
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Extensive experience performing short circuit coordination studies and arc flash analyses using SKM or EasyPower
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM software
  • Experience designing telecommunications systems, fire alarm systems, or security systems

The base salary range for this position is $102,900.00 to $180,100.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
