Senior Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy (Remote, U.S. Based)

We are supporting a market-leading renewable energy company in the search for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team. The organization owns and operates a national portfolio of anaerobic digestion and clean energy projects and is committed to advancing sustainability through innovative, waste-to-energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical engineering drawings for permitting, estimating, and construction
• Prepare detailed documentation, including one-line diagrams, load calculations, cable schedules, conduit plans, grounding and lighting layouts, and panel schedules
• Perform short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash studies
• Develop electrical protection systems, including OCPD and power relay settings
• Coordinate with utilities, vendors, EPCs, and suppliers to ensure alignment across projects
• Support commissioning and startup of electrical systems, including programming and testing of installed equipment
• Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and process engineering teams to ensure fully integrated plant designs
• Respond to contractor RFIs and participate in design reviews and HAZOP studies
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, UL, IEEE, and ISA
• Provide ongoing support to Operations and Maintenance teams with troubleshooting, electrical safety systems, and performance optimization
• Prepare specifications, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
• Contribute to continuous improvement in engineering design and execution quality
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed to support projects

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
• 8+ years of experience in electrical design for power systems in one or more of the following industries: Renewable Energy, Biogas, Power Generation, Gas Processing, Chemical, or Waste Management
• Proficiency with NEC, electrical safety codes, and design standards
• Strong experience in AutoCAD and power system studies (short circuit, arc flash, grounding, coordination)
• Familiarity with SCADA, PLC systems, and industrial control integration is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months
• Legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
